Why is Public Relations so hard to define?
Public Relations… “WHAT IS IT AND WHY DO WE NEED IT?” With its all encompassing nature and the fact that there are many variables to be considered, “PR” tends to take on a blurry definition - especially when defined by those who are not IN the field.
Truth be told, now that we are working at home with our children listening IN on our work conversations - we have found ourselves even defining PR to them! Mom, “We thought PR was getting people on TV, why do you keep on talking about fixing their messaging?” Don’t believe us? Watch this funny video we came across on on PRWeek.com.
As you will see, even those closest to us, who are listening IN on our conversations as we speak with colleagues and clients, have a difficult time defining what it is that a PR Pro does.
We love this about PR. There are so many hats to wear and so many ways to go about making positive PR results, that it keeps us on our toes and at the edge of our seats.
